Individual therapy can be used in a multitude of ways. Some people may participate in therapy to reach specific goals or learn new skills for managing stressors in life. Others may have an ongoing issue in their life that they want to address. Still others are encouraged to attend therapy by a partner, parent, friend or coworker. Regardless of the initial motivation, Leslie can support clients in reaching their goals, gaining new skills and feeling overall happier and more fulfilled in life.

The primary focus of Leslie’s practice is supporting adults with ASD. Thus, many services and supports are tailored specifically for adults on the autism spectrum. Leslie largely delivers therapy using a CBT model, which allows clients to gain awareness and understanding about their thoughts, feelings and behavior. This may include stopping and changing pervasive negative thoughts or modifying a maladaptive behavior. Much of this work supports individuals in gaining social skills, improving their executive functioning (including time management, organization, completion of tasks), regulating mood and addressing challenges in a way that makes individuals more aware and adaptive in their lives. These supports may be especially helpful for individuals who are in “transition-ages”, which might be transitioning from high school to college or from college into the world of work.
